Tax advice, ATO rulings and objections
Income tax, GST and FBT advice, private binding rulings and objections to ATO decisions.
Some tax questions do not have an obvious answer. A property sale, a restructure, an unusual payment or a large GST transaction can carry real risk if the treatment is wrong, and the cost of getting it wrong usually shows up years later.
We give clear written advice on income tax, GST and FBT questions. Where certainty matters, we can ask the ATO for a private binding ruling before you act. And if you disagree with an ATO decision, we can prepare and lodge an objection on your behalf.

Questions about tax advice, ato rulings and objections
What is a private binding ruling?
It is the ATO's written view on how the tax law applies to your specific circumstances. If you follow it and your facts match those you described, the ATO is bound by it, which gives you certainty before you act.
Is there a time limit to object to an ATO decision?
Yes. Objections generally need to be lodged within a set period after the assessment or decision, often two or four years for income tax assessments and shorter for some other decisions. Contact us as soon as possible so the deadline is not missed.
I received a letter from the ATO. What should I do?
Don't ignore it. Send us a copy and we will explain what it means, what the ATO is asking for, and how to respond.
